MissionOur mission statement is;

"To love and lead Buttershaw people to be committed followers of Christ"

Our mission statement is simple but has been a powerful motivating vision for the Church. We are an evangelical missionary congregation who exist to follow Jesus by doing what he told us to do, saying what he told us to say and praying what he taught us to. In a phrase that means the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus told us to;

We want to love and lead Buttershaw people to be committed followers of Christ by seeking first the kingdom of God to;

Bless our community. We believe God loves the people of Buttershaw. He blesses all people with his love. We will bless our community by being people that radiate Jesus. We will pray for the Kingdom to come in this community and bring it with it healing and wholeness to bodies, minds and spirits. We will continue to hold events and services that show God’s passionate love and his Kingdom concern for all. We are socially involved with our estate through the Buttershaw Christian Family Centre. We organise regular events to show God's love for the estate. These include firework parties, Christmas pantomimes (a full professional company from Chaplin's Pantos have performed for the last five years at the Church), holiday clubs, open air services and summer fun days.

Belong together as a family. We strive to be a family together. That means we try to be there for each other and accept each other as we are. With Jesus as the head of our family we have grown, learnt, laugh and cried together. Many visitors comment on the sense of belonging and welcome they feel here. Our family is not closed, but open. We welcome all !

Believe in Christ. We are a Christian Church. We believe in the Bible and that Jesus is the only Son of the only true God. Jesus came to earth as fully God and fully man, lived a perfect life and died to pay the price for the things we have got wrong that separate us from a full relationship with God. Our worship and lifestyles seek to reflect our love for Jesus. Our life aims to be one of worship and thankfulness. We know that God is good all the time and we celebrate what He has,  is and will do.  We encourage each other to follow Jesus closely through our teaching, small groups and accountability relationships. We enable and encourage all to serve and to live as bringers and bearers of the Kingdom.

Become more like Jesus. We are not perfect yet. We have pledged as a Church to work together so that each of us will become more like Jesus. We uphold the Christian lifestyle outlined in the Bible but know that we need God's Spirit in us and the help of our fellow Christians to help us improve. That's why our family life together is so vital.

In our worship together we want to draw closer to Jesus so that we can make sure that those around us get the fullness of what Jesus paid for through his death and resurrection.   We meet with God so that when others meet with us, they meet with Him.

Spirit we welcome the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in our worship and lives. We seek Him to minister His goodness and gifts to all and offer His power to all through prophecy, healing, wisdom and encouragement. God is better than we think, so we will think better. As a New Wine connected Church we seek the power of Spirit to establish the kingdom of God on Buttershaw and in Bradford.

As a Baptist Church we don't have bishops or priests. The local Church meets to discern the will of God for that Church family. We believe the Bible is the living Word of God and hold it dear. We baptise those who have committed themselves to Jesus and believe that each can approach our heavenly Father through Jesus, His only Son. We encourage individuals to become committed members of the local Church whilst maintaining our part in the wider Baptist and Christian Church family.

We believe that God is blessing us through this model of working as a Church. If you want to find out more then please contact us.

We are part of the Baptist Union, and supported by the Home Mission Fund.
