Background to the Family Centre

The Family Centre was started as is a joint project between the Church and Spurgeon's Childcare. The Family Centre has been an independent limited charitable company since April 2004. The Family Centre is one of the ways that the Church seeks to serve our community.

Our mission statement is;

"God's love in action on the Buttershaw Estate"

With a mixture of paid staff and a high number of local volunteers we run a range of activities and groups that seek to build community and enable the residents of the Buttershaw Estate. We aim to build self esteem and give choice and support. The Centre is open and welcomes all regardless of faith, gender or race.

Our newest service, a counselling service, can be explored on this page.

We work in partnership with our volunteers, users and other local organisations to provide high quality and accessible services.

The Family Centre started as a job search project but has grown to encompass a broad range of activities.
